Laptop Recycling in Brisbane

Old company laptops sitting in a storeroom are a data breach waiting to happen. We collect them from your office, wipe or destroy every drive, and recycle what's left. Free for most Brisbane businesses.

Why Businesses Use Our Laptop Recycling Service

Most companies replace laptops every three to five years. Each refresh leaves a pile of old machines that nobody wants to deal with. They can't go in the bin, IT doesn't have time to wipe them one by one, and finance still has them listed on the asset register.

That's the job we do. We've been recycling laptops for Brisbane businesses since 2015. Our team collects from your office, records every serial number with barcode scanners, then wipes or physically destroys every drive before anything gets recycled or reused. You get the paperwork to prove it happened.

One collection, and the storeroom problem, the data problem, and the asset register problem are all sorted.

What Happens to Your Laptops

Every laptop we collect goes down one of two paths, and data destruction comes first on both.

Working laptops are securely wiped with a 3-pass process that follows the NIST 800-88 standard, then refurbished. Some are donated to schools and community groups through our laptop donation program. Others are resold, and that recovered value is exactly what lets us collect from you for free.

Dead or damaged laptops have their drives removed and destroyed, then get dismantled. Aluminium bodies, circuit boards, screens and batteries are separated and sent to specialist recyclers. Nothing goes to landfill.

If you'd rather no laptop leaves your fleet in working condition, tell us. We'll shred the drives and recycle the lot.

Laptop Batteries Are the Part You Really Don't Want in a Bin

Lithium-ion batteries are the leading cause of fires in waste trucks and recycling facilities. A laptop tossed in a general waste skip is a genuine hazard, and councils don't accept them in kerbside bins for that reason.

We handle the batteries properly. They're removed during dismantling and sent through dedicated battery recycling channels, where the lithium, cobalt and nickel get recovered instead of burning a hole in a garbage truck.

The Data on Old Laptops Is Worth More Than the Laptops

A five year old laptop might be worth fifty dollars. The client files, saved passwords and email caches on its drive could cost you a great deal more if they walked out the door. Under the Privacy Act and the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, losing control of personal information is a reportable problem, even when it happens by accident.

So we treat every laptop as if the drive holds something sensitive. Serial numbers are scanned and recorded at your site before anything is moved. Every drive is either wiped to NIST 800-88 or pierced and shredded in our industrial shredder. You receive a certificate of data destruction listing the serial numbers processed, so your compliance records are complete.

Law firms, medical practices and accounting firms across Brisbane use us for exactly this reason.

How a Laptop Collection Works

1

Tell us what you've got

Rough numbers are fine. "About 30 laptops and a box of chargers" is all we need to quote. Photos help if you have them.

2

We collect from your office

Usually within 3 to 5 business days, faster if it's urgent. We come to your floor, scan serial numbers as we pack, and carry everything out ourselves. CBD towers included.

3

Drives wiped or destroyed

Back at our facility, every drive is wiped to NIST 800-88 or physically shredded. Working machines are refurbished, the rest are dismantled for recycling.

4

You get the paperwork

A certificate of data destruction with every serial number listed, plus an asset report your finance team can use to write the machines off the register.

We Take More Than Laptops

Laptop cleanouts rarely stop at laptops. Docking stations, chargers, old phones, monitors, the desktop tower under the spare desk. Bring it all out in the one collection. Our e-waste recycling service covers everything IT related, and one truck visit is easier for everyone than three.

Doing a full office refresh or decommission? Our IT asset disposal service handles the whole lot with itemised reporting.

Laptop Recycling Questions

Is laptop recycling free for businesses in Brisbane?

For most business collections within 20km of the CBD, yes. We recover value by refurbishing working machines, and that covers the collection. Very small or low-value loads may attract a fee, which we quote up front.

What happens to the data on recycled laptops?

Every drive is either wiped with a 3-pass process following the NIST 800-88 standard or physically shredded. You receive a certificate of data destruction listing each serial number.

How many laptops do you need before you'll collect?

There's no strict minimum. Around ten machines is where free collection usually starts to make sense, but smaller lots are fine too, sometimes with a small fee that we'll confirm before you book.

Can you recycle laptops that don't turn on?

Yes. Dead or damaged laptops are dismantled, the drives are destroyed, and the batteries, metals and boards are recycled through specialist processors.
