Where Your E-Waste Actually Goes

"Recycled" can mean a lot of things in this industry, so here's our version, plainly.

Everything we collect comes back to our Brisbane facility and gets assessed. Equipment with life left in it is wiped of all data, refurbished and put back to work, some of it donated to local schools and community groups. Selling refurbished gear is also how the free collection pays for itself. We'd rather be upfront about that than pretend recycling trucks run on goodwill.

Everything else is dismantled. Steel, aluminium, copper, circuit boards, plastics and batteries are separated and passed to specialist processors who recover the raw materials. Drives and tapes are destroyed before any of that happens. Nothing we collect goes to landfill.

Every device with storage gets the same treatment: serial number recorded, then a NIST 800-88 standard wipe or physical shredding, documented on a certificate of data destruction.

Why Is the Collection Free?

Fair question, and the honest answer is in the equipment itself. Business IT gear holds recoverable value, in working machines that can be refurbished and in the metals inside the rest. When a collection has enough of that value in it, the value covers the truck, the labour and the processing. So you don't pay.

Very small pickups or loads with no recovery value sometimes attract a collection fee. If that's the case for your job, we'll tell you up front when we quote, before anything is booked. No surprises on the day.

Our Collection Area

Free collection covers businesses within roughly 20km of the Brisbane CBD. That takes in the city itself, Fortitude Valley, South Brisbane and the inner ring, plus the major commercial and industrial areas from Eagle Farm and Northgate down to Salisbury, Acacia Ridge and out to Milton, Toowong and Indooroopilly.

Further out? Still call us. Larger collections are usually worth the trip beyond the 20km line, and for smaller loads outside the zone we'll quote a fair rate rather than turn you away.

Built for Business Collections

Household drop-off schemes exist, and for a single old laptop from home they're the right answer. The National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme covers households and small quantities at drop-off points. What it doesn't cover is a business with eighty machines on level 12, a lease ending on Friday, and an auditor who wants to know where the hard drives went.

That's the job we're built for. We collect from CBD towers, business parks and warehouses. We de-rack servers, manage lifts and loading docks, and scan every serial number on the way out.
